Situation: Domestic Violence – Order of Protection
Date: August 2023
Peggy came to A.R.C. seeking an Order of Protection against her sister due to domestic violence. During intake, it became clear that her sister had been covering half of Peggy’s $1,050 monthly rent. With that support gone, Peggy faced financial instability and uncertainty. She sold her car to cover rent, but now needed employment.
A.R.C. referred Peggy to Project Ayuda’s part-time work program, helping her generate income. Though she now relies on public transportation, she’s able to meet her financial obligations. A.R.C. also connected her with La Frontera, where she joined a peer support group for grief counseling and mental health care.
What began as a request for protection became a path to empowerment. Through A.R.C., Peggy received:
- An Order of Protection for safety
- Budgeting support for financial stability
- Mental health resources via La Frontera
- Employment assistance through Project Ayuda
Outcome: Peggy now has housing stability, emotional support, and a renewed sense of hope.
